Tepezza Warning!
New warning out about Tepezza possibly causing permanent hearing issues and/or loss.
It’s a shame Tepezza isn’t the miracle many Gravesters with Graves Ophthalmic Disease (mistakenly called thyroid eye disease) were hoping for.
I’ve had about a dozen clients who have tried the infusions with decent results for their eyes but the side effects are harsh. Most commonly ringing in the ears. For some it stopped after treatment but not all. Several still have ringing and diminished hearing more than a year later.
Another disappointment about Tepezza is that it doesn’t lower Graves antibodies which is what drives Graves Ophthalmic Disease. Not your thyroid!! The best long term solution is to put the antibodies into remission. My clients’ antibodies only dropped at the normal rate I see with good proper management.
