🦋 When Choosing a Doctor… 🦋
Finding a doctor that will agree to manage us properly with our thyroids intact is a challenge. It’s ok to be selective and doc shop!
Things to consider and questions to ask:
🦋 Bedside manners and being nice are great but these are skills the best and most talented doctors don’t always have. Science nerds don’t always have good social skills but when choosing a good doctor you want a science nerd! You’re using science/biology when using The Thyroid Keeper’s Protocol to keep your thyroid so you need a doctor who is receptive to that.
🦋 Is an endocrinologist or a general practitioner better for our needs? In most cases the answer is a general practitioner. These are usually the science nerd doctors who practice medicine because they love the science of it. Endos have huge egos by nature and because they’re specialists think they know it all. While this is true with diseases like diabetes, etc. it is NOT true for Graves/Hyperthyroidism. They incorrectly think they’re correct in solving your hyPER issue with a hyPO problem while allowing the autoimmune disease to just run amok. Convincing them you want to keep your thyroid and put your Graves into antibody remission is really difficult because of their big egos.
🦋 Find a doctor who is interested when you say, “I’ve found a group of over 7,000 other Gravesters who are successfully managing their thyroids and achieving full antibody remission using a science based protocol of frequent testing and dose adjustments similar to the way a diabetic is managed and that’s what I want to do.” You need a doctor who will listen to you and wants to learn.
🦋 Finally, accept that you must learn The Thyroid Keeper’s Protocol yourself to keep your thyroid. Doctors have not yet learned nor accepted that this is better for your quality of life than removing or nuking your thyroid. You must learn how to properly adjust your dose because our doctors don’t know. You must learn the proper amount of low iodine in your diet because our doctors don’t know. It’s all on you, accept it and take charge!!
